About Unfaded

Unfaded is a small photo restoration studio in Auckland, New Zealand.

We do one thing. We take photographs that have been damaged by time, water, mould, handling or bad storage, and we put them back the way they were.

Why this work matters

Most families have a box somewhere. A wedding in 1958. A grandfather in uniform. A house that is not there any more. Nobody ever quite gets around to doing anything with them, and every year they get a little worse.

The photographs themselves are not valuable to anyone outside the family. That is exactly why they are worth restoring. Nobody else is going to do it.

How we work

You never send us an original. You send a scan or a phone photo, and the thing you are trying to protect stays on your shelf.

We tell you what we did. If part of a face was destroyed and we rebuilt it, we say so. A restoration you cannot trust is not worth having, and the difference between what was recovered and what was reconstructed is something you are entitled to know.

We revise until you are happy, at no extra cost, and if we cannot get there we refund you.

Being straight about what we are

Unfaded is new. We are not going to pretend to a decade of history we do not have, or show you testimonials from customers who do not exist yet. What we will do is put the work in front of you before you pay for it, and refund you without argument if it is not right.
