Do I have to post you the original photograph?
No, and we would rather you did not. Send a scan or a clear phone photo. The original stays with you.
My photo is just on my phone. Is that good enough?
Usually yes. Lay the photograph flat in daylight, hold the phone square on above it rather than at an angle, and avoid casting a shadow across it. If it is behind glass, take it out of the frame first. We will tell you if we need a better one before we start.
How damaged is too damaged?
Tears, missing corners, water stains, mould, heavy fading and scratches are all routine. The hard cases are photographs where a face is entirely gone, or where the image has faded so far that there is no detail underneath to recover. Send it to us and we will tell you honestly.
If part of a face is missing, what do you do?
We rebuild it, and we tell you which parts we rebuilt. You should always know the difference between what was recovered from the photograph and what was inferred.
Can you colourise a black and white photo?
Yes, that is Bring It Into Colour. We ask you what you remember about the real colours first and use that. Where nobody knows, we make a period-accurate choice and flag it. The colour is not hidden in the negative, so this is interpretation rather than recovery, and we are upfront about that.
What file do I get back?
A high-resolution JPEG and a print-ready TIFF. No watermark, no compression, no usage restrictions. Print it wherever and as often as you like.
How many revisions do I get?
As many as you need. There is no limit and no charge.
What if I do not like it?
Full refund. No conditions and no time limit on asking.
Do you do old film negatives or slides?
Yes. Photograph or scan them and send them over, and mention what they are so we know to invert them.
Is GST included?
There is no GST. Unfaded is under the registration threshold, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Can you send a framed print straight to someone as a gift?
Yes. Put their address at checkout and add a note in the order comments. We include a handwritten card and leave the price out of the box.
